Oliver Saavedra Valeriano has a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan. He also holds a master's degree in Tropical Hydrogeology from Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Germany. Saavedra obtained his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from UPB. He has been an associate professor in the Civil Engineering department at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. Since 2015, Saavedra has been the director of the Center for Civil and Environmental Research at UPB. He has taken specialized courses in university management and leadership. Currently, Saavedra is the dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at the Cochabamba campus.
