Description
The Research and Innovation Center in Finance (CIIFI) directs its activities towards research in applied finance, with an emphasis on topics of national and regional interest. The CIIFI is responsible for implementing, developing, executing, and consolidating research projects in the financial area, promoting financial innovation and strengthening financial markets, financial institutions, and corporate finance.
In coherence with its technical approach, the CIIFI privileges the use of quantitative mathematical and statistical methods, as well as econometric, financial, and accounting models, as central tools for applied financial research.
Research lines
Financial Intermediation Program: studies in comprehensive risk management, financial system regulation, financial institutions, competition and structure of the financial market, and microfinance.
Securities Market Program: research on market efficiency and anomalies, behavioral finance, valuation of financial instruments, fundamental analysis, portfolio management, performance evaluation, technical analysis, and trading strategies.
Financial Products Program: focused on financial innovation through the design of financial products and instruments, financial derivatives, investment funds, insurance, financial and actuarial mathematics, and information technologies applied to finance.
Corporate Finance Program: aimed at strengthening the business sector, with studies on capital structure and dividend policy, cost of capital, financial analysis and planning, investment project evaluation, entrepreneurship development, financing mechanisms, sector studies, and International Financial Reporting Standards.
